SUMMERWOOD
Summerwood
LATEST: Look out for us throughout 2022
appearing at the Epworth Music Day June 18th 2022
Summerwood play an eclectic acoustic mix of bluegrass, Americana, English and Irish traditional folk tunes as well as occasionally dipping into their wider classical, contemporary and original collection.
In 2018, for the highly-acclaimed Folk in a Field Festival in Norfolk, they created and performed Summerwood Play Carolan - a musical journey into the world of Irish composer, Turlough O’Carolan, a blind, itinerant harpist who wrote some outstandingly beautiful melodies, many dedicated to the wealthy patrons who provided food and lodging as he travelled the country
Hailing from Lincolnshire, local lads Kent Prentice (Guitar) and Dave Webb (Percussion) are joined by Nottinghamshire musicians Kate Morris (banjo, concertina, piano accordion) and Tony Croft (mandolin, melodeon, guitar) who together form Summerwood. For Epworth Music Day 2022 Summerwood will be performing a broad and varied selection drawn from the above repertoire.
